Khmer/Arabic eatery opens in Chandler
Thaily’s, a small restaurant offering Khmer (Cambodian) and Arabic finger foods, has opened near downtown Chandler. It’s located on the north side of Chandler Boulevard about halfway between Arizona and McQueen. The owners are Thai Kambar, who’s Khmer, and her husband, Lee, who’s Arabic. Thaily’s limited soft-opening menu features spring rolls, vermicelli noodle bowls, gyros, pitas, and spam and egg musabi. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday.
Salt Tacos y Tequila coming to Gilbert
Salt Tacos y Tequila, a 5-year-old modern Mexican restaurant and bar at Westgate in Glendale, is opening a second location in the former Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que space at SanTan Village shopping center in Gilbert. Tacos and burritos dominate Salt’s menu, while the bar offers more than 150 kinds of tequila. No opening date has been announced yet.
Customer Appreciation Week at BRI
It’s Customer Appreciation Week at the Beer Research Institute in Mesa, meaning it’s all-day happy hour – $4 pints, $1 off cocktails, and discounted apps – through Sunday. The brewpub just tapped its popular seasonal Top Secret Battle Monkey double IPA last Thursday, and this Thursday is the release of its annual Taxation is Theft wheat ale.
Thursday: ‘Taste of Romeo’s’ dinner
Kasseri Chicken and Sausage Sophia will be the featured entrees when Romeo’s Euro Cafe in downtown Gilbert holds its weekly ‘‘Taste of Romeo’s’’ dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Cost is $39 per person plus tax and tip. Add five wine tastes (or a bottle of wine to go) for $10. RSVP: 480-962-4224.
