Rula Bula in downtown Tempe to close
Rula Bula Irish Pub, a downtown Tempe mainstay for 20 years, says it has been unable to reach agreement on a new lease with its landlord and will be forced to close at the end of June. Wexford Developments, which bought the building at Mill and Fourth in 2019, says it offered Rula Bula a 10-year lease extension, but not at what it considered a below-market rate the pub had been paying. The current lease expired last June, but Wexford extended it for another year due to the covid-19 pandemic. With negotiations at an impasse, however, Wexford says it now has secured a different tenant for the space.

Correction: I Heart Mac & Cheese location
Wednesday’s note on the grand opening of I Heart Mac & Cheese in south Tempe had an incorrect crossroad for the Florida-based chain’s first Arizona location. Instead of the northeast corner of Warner and Kyrene, it should have said the northeast corner of Warner and Priest.
