If you’re a connoisseur of Sonoran hot dogs, there’s a new restaurant you’ll want to check out. Tacos & Hot Dogs Los Mayitos has opened near the northwest corner of Gilbert and Broadway in Mesa.
Besides Sonoran-style dogs – bacon-wrapped with beans, grilled onions, green salsa, tomatoes, guacamole, mayo, mustard, and ketchup ($3.50) – there also are several variations:
- Dogo Ebarazado: Filled with cream chease and Monterey jack cheese and wrapped in bacon ($4.50);
- Chipilon: Stuffed grilled cheese hot dog ($5);
- Chili Dog: Wrapped with green chili, cheese, and bacon ($5);
- El Mayito: A combination of all three specialty dogs in one ($8.50).
In addition, Tacos & Hot Dogs Los Mayitos offers six kinds of tacos – carne asada, al pastor, birria, cabeza, pollo asado, and quesobirria ($2.25-$3) – along with burritos, quesadillas, gorditas, and more.
Hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
