Chesapeake Bay Seafood Bistro launches in Ahwatukee on Tuesday

By Staff reports Thursday, June 3, 2021

(Update: Due to a problem with their point-of-sale system, Chesapeake Bay has delayed their opening from Saturday, June 5, until Tuesday, June 8.)

Chesapeake Bay Seafood Bistro – specializing in what its owner calls ‘‘quick, healthy seafood to go’’ – will open Tuesday, June 8, in the Ahwatukee Plaza.

It takes over the former Fresko Mediterranean Kitchen & Catering space on the southwest corner of Elliot and 51st Street.

Owners James and Yolanda Brown will serve blue crab flown in live daily from Maryland and a seasonal selection of mostly fresh fish and seafood cooked to order along with daily specials.

Diners can choose from an “off the grill” preparation with seasonings such as Old Bay, garlic herb butter, teriyaki, etc., or “out the fryer” with a seasoned light cornmeal batter.

The menu also includes salads, sandwiches, tacos and plates.

Although the focus is on meals to go, Chesapeake Bay has a small dining room. A liquor license is pending and the Browns expect to sell wine and beer by the end of June.

The Browns originally are from Virginia but lived for 30 years in San Diego before moving to Ahwatukee four years ago.

Chesapeake Bay will be open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. Closed Mondays.
