Keegan’s Grill, an Ahwatukee mainstay for more than 25 years, announced it will close permanently June 30.
According to the statement, ‘‘Due to a very rough 16 months with covid-19 disrupting our business along with rising operating costs we have unfortunately decided to close our restaurant effective the end of June.’’
Don Weissmueller and Paul Burdick launched Keegan’s Grill at Camelback and 32nd Street in Phoenix in 1989, adding locations in Ahwatukee in 1995 and south Chandler in 2001.
The closure of the Ahwatukee restaurant near the southwest corner of Ray and 48th Street will not affect the other locations. All three had been sold to different owners over the years.
