Crave Pizza, a successor to one of the restaurants formerly known as Buddyz Chicago Pizzeria, has opened on the southeast corner of Sossaman and Guadalupe in east Mesa.
The background: When the three other local Buddyz locations announced they were changing their name to Vero Chicago Pizza, Randy Wallace decided to close his Buddyz at Val Vista and Baseline in Gilbert in December and open an independent pizzeria in east Mesa.
The menu: Like Buddyz/Vero, Crave offers three types of Chicago-style pizza – thin crust, butter crust, and deep dish. Other similarities include salads, hot sandwiches, and pastas. Eight beers are on tap.
Open: At 4 p.m. daily (3 p.m. Sundays) for dinner.
