Level 1 Arcade Bar, which opened in downtown Gilbert in 2019, is opening a second location on Main, between MacDonald and Drew, in downtown Mesa.
The space: The Mesa location will be two stories for a total of 6,000 square foot, more than double the size of the original. Besides pinball machines and arcade games, the new Level 1 will have a dance floor and 30 beers on tap (compared to 20 in Gilbert).
The competition: Beer Research Institute in Mesa also is opening a second location, the Beer Research Institute Taproom & Old School Arcade, on Main Street in downtown Mesa this fall.
Timeline: Level 1 plans to open in January, but it will depend on how quickly construction goes.
