Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken, a legendary Memphis-based chain that made its Arizona debut in downtown Mesa in January, will open a second location on the southeast corner of Van Buren and Fourth Avenue in downtown Phoenix.
The menu: Hot and spicy chicken sold in individual pieces or as plates with sides of potato salad, fried okra, cole slaw, and seasoned fries. There are five kinds of pie for dessert.
The chain: Founded in 1984, Gus’s has received countless honors, including being named the best fried chicken in America by Forbes and one of the 10 best meals in America by GQ.
Future locations: The chain is looking for more locations in Arizona, including Tempe and Tucson.
Projected opening: Not yet announced.
