Texas-based Torchy’s Tacos to launch 2nd Valley location Wednesday

Austin, Texas-based Torchy’s Tacos, which made its Arizona debut in Phoenix in June, officially opens its second local location at 10 a.m. Wednesday on the northeast corner of Tatum and Shea in northeast Phoenix.

Menu highlights: 14 creative specialty tacos and nine types of margaritas. The signature menu item, however, is the chile con queso packed with green chiles and topped with guacamole.

Free T-shirts: The first 100 guests in line at 10 a.m. will get a Torchy’s Restaurant Opening T-Shirt, which will get them free green chile queso for a year each time they wear it to that location.

The chain: Torchy’s began as an Austin food trailer in 2006. It now has more than 100 locations in 12 states.

Hours: 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
