Reopening of fire-damaged The Hub Grill & Bar pushed back – yet again

By Jess Harter Thursday, September 29, 2022

The reopening of the Sossaman location of The Hub Grill & Bar, which has been closed since a fire on New Year’s Eve 2020, has been pushed back yet again.

The delays: Insurance and supply line issues originally pushed The Hub’s reopening on the northeast corner of Sossaman and Baseline in east Mesa to March 2022, then to summer 2022, then to fall 2022.

The good news: Construction is proceeding, albeit slowly. The walls of the redesigned space are still exposed studs, but owner Kenny Klaus says all the electrical, plumbing, and audio-visual lines have been run.

The bad news: Air-conditioning units, which were ordered in February and due in August, now aren’t expected to arrive until mid-November. Kitchen hoods are delayed until late December or January.

The quote: ‘‘Based on those scenarios, right now we’re looking at (reopening) late first quarter (of 2023),’’ Klaus says in a video update on social media.

Other locations: In the meantime, Hub fans can visit the two other locations in Mesa or the one in Ahwatukee.
