Three Valley craft breweries – Oro, Wren House (pictured), and Saddle Mountain – won medals Saturday night at the 2022 Great American Beer Festival, the world’s largest commercial beer competition, in Denver.
- 🥇 Oro in downtown Mesa, which won a silver medal for its Trigo Suave tangerine wheat beer at the World Beer Cup in May, won a gold medal in the coffee beer category for its Cafe Oro.
- 🥇 Wren House in Phoenix took the gold in the Dortmunder or German-style Oktoberfest category for its Festbier, its third medal (two golds, one silver) in the last four years in different categories;
- 🥉 Saddle Mountain in Goodyear took the bronze in Scottish-style ale for its Taildragger Clan-Destine, the ale’s fifth medal (three gold, two bronze) in six years in the category.
GABF stats: This year’s competition received 9,904 entries from 2,154 breweries. It awarded 300 medals to in 98 beer-style categories.
