Black Horse Brewery, a family-operated rural brewery near Show Low in northeast Arizona, announced it will cease operations on Dec. 31 after six years in business.

The history: The brewery and its Hole in the Wall taproom were launched in 2016 by Ralph Forney, who runs Black Horse with his children Jacob and Julie.

Flagship beer: Black Stallion, a Schwarz-style beer with notes of coffee and chocolate.

Did you know: The brewery’s name is a tribute to Ralph Forney’s service in the U.S. Army’s 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, known as the ‘‘Blackhorse Regiment.’’
