By Jess Harter Monday, November 14, 2022

Crust Simply Italian, an East Coast Italian food and drink concept, has opened its third Valley location at the Verde at Cooley Station mixed-use development on the southwest corner of William Field and Recker in Gilbert.

The menu: Rustica-shaped pizzas, bruschetta, salads, pasta dishes, and Italian entrees.

The history: Michael Merendino, a first-generation Italian-American from Long Island, N.Y. launched Crust in Scottsdale in 2007.

  • A second location opened in downtown Chandler in 2015.
  • A fourth location is planned for Mesa in 2023.

💵 Deal alert: You can get a 20-inch takeout pizza for just $13 on Sundays and Mondays during football season.

Birds of a feather: Like Crust’s Chandler location, which has a downstairs speakeasy-style bar called The Ostrich, the Gilbert location has a next-door bar called The Blue Heron.

Open: Crust opens at 11 a.m. daily; The Blue Heron opens at 5 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday (closed Monday).
