Ahwatukee’s Chesapeake Bay Bistro expands with ghost kitchen in Tempe

Ahwatukee seafood restaurant Chesapeake Bay Bistro has expanded with a ghost kitchen at the Tempe Food Court near the ASU campus in Tempe.

The location: The Tempe Food Court, located on Fifth Street south of Rio Salado, is home to more than 15 eateries that share a food court but focus mostly on takeout and delivery.

  • Owner James Brown says 60% of Chesapeake Bay Bistro’s sales are takeout or delivery.
  • The ghost kitchen offers most of the same menu items, including calamari, shrimp, and fried and grilled fish.

The quote: “The past year has been challenging with staffing, higher prices for food supplies, and rising costs for rent and utilities. Adding locations through a food-court style expansion makes sense on many levels,” Brown says.

Coming soon: Brown plans to open a second ghost kitchen near San Diego State University next month.
