Valley breweries celebrate Black Friday with special releases & tappings

8-Bit Aleworks in Avondale will open early at 6 a.m. Friday for its annual Black Mage takeover, featuring 10 versions of its flagship stout.

  • This year’s versions include Choco Taco Mage, Candied Pecan Mage, and Neapolitan Mage.
  • Growler fills won’t be available until 10 a.m. to give everyone an opportunity to try the beers.

Old Ellsworth Brewing in Queen Creek will hold its fifth annual Black Friday lineup by dedicating a half-dozen taps to dark beers:

  • Old Ellsworth Dead Porter Society
  • Old Ellsworth Born Into Fire/Good Vibrations
  • Mother Road Lost Highway Black Double IPA
  • SanTan Sex Panther
  • Beer Research Institute Morning Sex
  • Historic Piehole Porter

Uncle Bear’s Brewing in Gilbert will be selling a very limited number of cases of its annual Holiday Hound Winter Ale (pictured) on Friday.

  • One keg of Holiday Hound also will be on tap at the brewery’s taproom.
  • One keg each of Uncle Bear’s Dulce Dog (imperial stout aged on toffee and carmel) and La Fresas Vida (a strawberry margarita-style Berliner Weisse) also will be on tap.

Chicago-based Goose Island celebrates the 30th anniversary of its famed Bourbon County Stout, which goes on sale at stores nationwide every Black Friday.

  • This year’s release also features six variants of Bourbon County.
