Sandfish Sushi & Whiskey, an acclaimed sushi bar in Palm Springs, Calif., has opened a second location near the northwest corner of Indian School and Seventh Avenue in Phoenix’s Melrose District.
The history: Chef-owner Engin Onural opened his first restaurant, The Venue Sushi Bar & Sake Lounge, in Palm Desert, Calif., in 2011.
- He expanded his empire with Sandfish Sushi & Whiskey in 2018 and added a cocktail bar, Tailor Shop, in Palm Springs earlier this year.
The menu: Signature sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, seafood dishes, and more than 100 whiskeys, about 40 of them from Japan.
Open: 4-10 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday. Closed Monday-Tuesday.
