After a couple of soft-opening sessions over the weekend and a ribbon-cutting at 4 p.m. today, Hundred Mile Brewing officially opens its doors at 11 a.m. Wednesday on the southwest corner of Scottsdale and the 202 in Tempe.
The space: The 10,000-square-foot brewery and restaurant takes over a building that formerly housed Looks Good, a printing and sign shop.
- It features an event space, a taproom, and two bars, one of which is outside on a dog-friendly patio.
The founder: Iowa native and veteran triathlete Sue Rigler (pictured) graduated from ASU with a degree in microbiology, and completed the Certification Brewing Program at UC-San Diego in 2016.
- She sits on the board of directors of the Pink Boots Society, a non-profit that supports women working in the brewing industry.
The quote: ‘‘Opening my own craft brewery after the last of my four kids finished high school has been a longtime dream of mine,’’ Rigler says,
The head brewer: Valerie Adee, another ASU alum, formerly was a brewer at Firestone Walker Brewing in Paso Robles, Calif., and head brewer at Trademark Brewing in Long Beach, Calif.
The beers: To begin, the 24 taps feature beers from other Arizona breweries, especially those that were helpful in Hundred Mile’s opening.
- Hundred Mile, which will focus on West Coast IPAs and pilsners, will debut one of its own beers every day from Dec. 19-23.
The food: Tacos, burgers, and other brew pub standards.
Open: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.
