Mr. Chao’s Asia Bistro closes after 20 years in Ahwatukee

Mr. Chao’s Asia Bistro, a 20-year-old restaurant offering mostly Chinese dishes, has closed near the northwest corner of Chandler and 40th Street in Ahwatukee.

• Founding chef Andy Tran and his wife, Amy Chao, sold Mr. Chao’s to Daniel Chiao in September 2021.

The quote: ‘‘We have made the unfortunate decision to close down the restaurant. Mr. Chao’s will no longer be opening their doors,’’ the restaurant posted on social media.
