Confirming news that Mouth by Southwest broke in April, Arizona Wilderness Brewing announced plans Wednesday to build a large new brewery on the northwest corner of McDowell and 15th Street in the heart of Phoenix’s historic Miracle Mile district.
What: The 10,000-square-foot brick-and-wood building, the brewery’s fourth location, will house a 15-barrel brewhouse (which will allow Arizona Wilderness to triple its production), a counter-service restaurant, and a taproom.
- The building formerly was home to multiple businesses, including a piano store, a jeweler, a laundromat, and the Stardust Tavern.
What’s Miracle Mile: One of the most desirable places to eat and shop in Phoenix in the 1940s and ’50s, the Miracle Mile stretched along McDowell from 14th Street to 18th Street.
Other locations: Arizona Wilderness, which debuted in Gilbert in 2013, added a beer garden in downtown Phoenix in 2019 and the Woodnotes Cellar just north of the original Gilbert brewpub in 2022.
Did you know: In 2014, Arizona Wilderness was named the “Top New Brewers in the World” by RateBeer.com.
Timetable: Arizona Wilderness Miracle Mile hopes to open in fall 2024.
