🍣 An ambitious new Japanese restaurant, Icho Izakaya Sushi & Grill, has soft-opened on the southeast corner of Broadway and Dobson in west Mesa.
The food: 34 six-piece maki and eight-piece specialty rolls ($4-$20) and 24 sashimi selections ($7-$17).
- Fish is flown in fresh (never frozen) from Japan.
- Also: appetizers, four types of ramen, yakisoba, fried rice, curries, yakitori, and teriyaki dishes.
The drinks: Their liquor license is pending.
Did you know: Izakayas are casual places for after-work drinking, similar to a pub.
Hours: 5-10:30 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday (takeout until 11:30 p.m.). Closed Mondays.
