🍕 Via 313 Pizza, a Texas-based chain offering Detroit-style pizzas, makes its Arizona debut today at Cornerstone on the northeast corner of Rural and University in Tempe.
The space: The former Cafe Rio Mexican Grill, which closed last year, next to McAlister’s Deli.
The food: The menu features 14 rectangular pan-baked pizzas, as well as seven round thin-crust pizzas.
The drinks: Try a Boston Cooler, a Detroit favorite made with vanilla ice cream and Vernor’s Ginger Ale.
- Also available: Faygo soda pop.
The chain: Brothers Brandon and Zane Hunt, Detroit natives, launched Via 313 in Austin, Texas, in 2011.
- The Tempe location is their 16th. All the others are in Texas and Utah.
- A second Valley location is in the works in Scottsdale.
Did you know: Via 313 is named for Detroit’s area code.
Hours: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.
