🇩🇰☕️ The Coffee Builders, a breakfast and lunch cafe specializing in Danish-style sandwiches and European pastries, opens at 6 a.m. today near the northeast corner of Seventh Street and Buckeye in downtown Phoenix.
The space: Designed by Thomas Porter, owner of Porter Barn Wood (located behind the cafe), The Coffee Builders serves as a showcase for Porter’s woodworking, metalworking, and concrete castings used in restaurants and other buildings nationwide.
- The former 1960s storefront, lined in walnut, quartz, and brass, seats around 20.
The food: The signature items are Danish-style open-faced sandwiches called smørrebrød made with fresh-baked rugbrød (a traditional Danish rye bread) and German- and French-inspired pastries.
The drinks: A custom espresso blend created by a local roaster, plus premium loose-leaf teas, cold brew on tap, blended drinks, and smoothies.
The hours: 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday. Closed weekends.
