Acclaimed vegetarian restaurant Sin Muerte to close in downtown Phoenix

🚫 Sin Muerte, an acclaimed vegetarian restaurant from the Instrumental Hospitality Group that was one of MXSW’s Top 10 New Restaurants of 2022, announced on social media it will close Friday after nine months in downtown Phoenix.

The background: Michael Babcock, who co-founded IHG in 2019, left the restaurant industry last month, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family.

What’s next: IHG says it’s working on a new concept for the space, a 1937 Mission-style building that once housed a funeral home.

Other concepts: IHG also operates the well-regarded Asian fusion restaurant Belly Kitchen & Bar in Phoenix and Gilbert, as well as Quartz, a downtown Phoenix nightclub in partnership with Chuckie Duff.
