🍕 High Stakes Pizza, a small shop that only offers delivery and carryout, has opened inside the former Old Country Buffet on the southwest corner of Southern and Power in east Mesa.
Zac Dokouzian opened High Stakes ‘‘because I felt like there weren’t enough neighborhood pizza shops anymore.’’
He makes the dough from scratch and allows a minimum of 48 hours to cold ferment before tossing by hand. Toppings are hand-cut daily.
The New York-style pies start at $14.95 for 14-inch and $19.95 for 18-inch.
The small operation has limited hours: 4-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
