The Larder + The Delta closes after 8 years in downtown Phoenix

🛑 The Larder + The Delta, chef Stephen Jones’ award-winning Southern restaurant, has closed after eight years in downtown Phoenix.

‘‘This decision wasn’t an easy decision but with so much change and unable to reach a deal on a new lease we have decided to close the doors here and look to the future,’’ the restaurant posted on social media.

Jones opened The Larder + The Delta (originally called Yard Bird + The Larder) in 2015 as a six-seat counter in a shared space at the DeSoto Central Market in downtown Phoenix.

After winning $30,000 on the Food Network’s “Guy’s Grocery Games: Impossible,” he moved into his own space on the northwest corner of Central and Portland in 2018.

Jones, who was nominated for a James Beard Award for Outstanding Chef in the United States last year, will continue to operate a small The Larder + The Delta booth at the Footprint Center during Phoenix Suns games.

He also intends to do pop-ups while raising money and looking for a new, larger space for his restaurant.
