🇹🇭 Mr. Baan’s Bar and Mookata, a new restaurant and bar from the owners of acclaimed Thai restaurant Lom Wong, has opened in downtown Phoenix.
The Thai-style barbecue concept is located behind Lom Wong, a bungalow next to the Cambria Hotel on the northwest corner of Portland and Third Street.
The space became available when Asian-inspired cocktail bar Khla closed in September.
Alex and Yotaka “Sunny” Martin launched Lom Wong in 2022. They were semifinalists for Best Chef Southwest at this year’s James Beard Awards.
Mr. Baan’s, named for Sunny’s uncle, serves craft cocktails highlight ingredients found in Thai cuisine. Mookata is a Thai tradition that’s a mix of Korean barbecue and Chinese hot pot.
