Devil’s Hideaway opens in ex-Rula Bula space in downtown Tempe

👺 Devil’s Hideaway, the latest concept from Valley nightlife entrepreneur Julian Wright, has opened in the former Rula Bula Irish Pub space on the southeast corner of Mill Avenue and Fourth Street in downtown Tempe.

Wright (Pedal Haus Brewery, Lucky’s Indoor Outdoor, Sake Haus, etc.) hired designer Wesley James to create a European-style motif with a tunnel-like faux brick archway. There are tables, sunken booths, and a 20-seat bar.

What’s on the menu?

The drinks menu features five house cocktails:

  • Spaghett: Miller High Life, aperol, lemon ($8).
  • South of the Border Punch: 100% Blue Weber agave tequila, pomegranate, select apertivo, hibiscus, chili liqueur, lime ($12).
  • Fourth Street Old Fashioned: Overproof bourbon, simple syrup, ango, orange ($14).
  • This One Fucks a Lot: Vodka, basil liqueur, aperol, lemon, simple syrup ($14).
  • What’s That Blue Drink? Gin, passionfruit, pineapple, guave, orgeat, falernum, blue, orange, lime (#13).

There’s also a selection of domestic, American craft, and European beers ($5-$8) and house wines by the glass ($12-$14).

What’s next?

Devil’s Hideaway’s patio with a walk-up food window and a stage for live music will open soon, as will a connected-but-separate bar called Idle Hands.
