🌮 El Carbon Mexican Eatery, a new open-fire concept from Valley restaurateur Danny Quinn, has opened at the Shops at Gainey Ranch on the northeast corner of Doubletree Ranch Road and Vaquero Drive in central Scottsdale.
- The cozy 2,950-square-foot sit-down restaurant seats 100 diners.
- Quinn’s other concepts include Pubblico Italian Eatery in Scottsdale and Phoenix and the just-closed Rockefeller seafood restaurant in Scottsdale.
What’s on the menu? Seven kinds of tacos (carne asada, achiote chicken, pastor, carnitas, shrimp, Baja fish, and mushroom), five types of enchiladas, four burritos, and house-made churros.
- Three featured entrees from chef Danny Garcia: anchiote chicken (marinated and grilled half-chicken), chulettas (green chile pork chop), and grilled branzino (served as whole fish).
- A full bar offers tongue-in-cheek cocktails such as a White Girl Marg (classic frozen margarita) and Nice Melons (rum, strawberry/cantaloupe blend, lemon oleo, lemon, egg white, and club soda).
Open: 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
