🍨 Salt & Straw, a Portland-based artisan ice cream shop, makes its Arizona debut today with its first-ever scoop shop at Epicenter at Agritopia on the northwest corner of Higley and Ray in Gilbert.
- Launched by cousins Kim and Tyler Malek in 2011, Salt & Straw is known for innovative flavors such as strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper, honey lavender, and pear and blue cheese.
What’s on the menu? In addition to 13 ‘‘classic’’ flavors, Salt & Straw offers themed monthly specials. For July, there are five flavors inspired by Pacific Northwest berries:
- Wild-foraged berry slab pie;
- Birthday cake and blackberries;
- Huckleberry cornbread pudding;
- Goat cheese marionberry habanero;
- GoNanas banana bread with strawberry jam.
