🚫 Scottsdale-based Evening Entertainment Group has scrapped its controversial plan to open a Bottled Blonde, its pizzeria and nightclub concept, in downtown Gilbert.
The move comes after the FBI arrested Utah developer Aaron Wagner, who had purchased the former Bergies Coffee Roast House property, on charges of money laundering and fraud last week.
Bergies, a fixture in downtown Gilbert since 2009, closed in December 2022 after Wagner purchased the property.
After EEG announced plans to expand its popular Scottsdale concept to the site, Gilbert residents launched a petition drive, arguing another downtown bar would negatively impact the family-friendly community.
