Japan & Spain meet the Southwest at Tiki Taka in Scottsdale

🇯🇵🇪🇸 Tiki Taka, a shared-plates restaurant inspired by flavors from Japan and Spain but incorporating Southwest ingredients, has opened at the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort near the northeast corner of Scottsdale and Doubletree Ranch roads.

The 138-seat venue is the latest concept from celebrity chef and restaurateur Richard Blais, the former ‘‘Top Chef: All Stars’’ winner tapped to revamp the resort’s six restaurants as part of a $110 million renovation. Blais currenty co-stars alongside Gordon Ramsay on Fox’s ‘‘Next Level Chef.’’

Tika Taka joins the already-open ‘‘Ital-izona’’ kitchen La Zozzona, Southwestern grill Mesa Centrale, Grand Vista Lounge, H2Oasis, and Sandbar at the resort.

Highlights of Tika Taka’s small-plates menu include hamachi pizza with pickled daikon, bonito flakes, and pepperoni yolk ($25); pork belly skewers with fish sauce and apple caramel ($21); pan-fried chorizo gyoza with sherry dip ($19); and Basque cheesecake with passionfruit curd ($10).

Tableside sangria frozen with liquid nitrogen, sake flights, and Japanese whiskies are among the beverage options.

Hours are 5-10 p.m. daily.
