Dodo Bird Kitchen & Cocktails comes to life in south Scottsdale

🦤 Dodo Bird Kitchen & Cocktails, a locally owned gastropub inspired by ‘‘the distinctive charm and playful spirit’’ of the extinct bird, has opened on the southwest corner of Hayden and Thomas in south Scottsdale.

The heart of the menu are five chicken sandwiches ($12-$15) and five smashed burgers ($12-$14 except for a $22 Wellington Burger). Waffle fries or sweet potato fries are an extra $3.

A lunch special from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays features a basic chicken sandwich or double burger with a side and an ice cream sandwich ($13).

There are only three other entrees – Bolognese beef pasta ($18), steak frites ($27), and wild salmon ($24) – along with some starters and desserts.

The bar offers an eight-page menu of spirits, cocktails, wines, and beers.

Hours are 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-1 a.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-1 a.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday.
