Cheba Hut expands to north Scottsdale, offers ‘trash can’ drink

🥖 Cheba Hut, the Valley-born chain of cannabis-themed sub shops, has opened its 10th Arizona location on the northeast corner of Scottsdale and Bell in north Scottsdale just in time for the nearby Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament.

Cheba Hut’s menu offers a variety of ‘‘toasted’’ subs with tongue-in-cheek names like Jamaican Red, Kali Mist, and Thai Stick – despite the theme, no cannabis products are used in the food – along with munchies, craft cocktails and local beers.

Subs come in three sizes: nug (4 inches, $4.29-$7.09), pinner (6 inches, $6.59-$11.59), and blunt (12 inches, $8.89-$15.59).

The new location features a Phoenix Open-themed mural (shown below). Hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.

Scott Jennings launched the first Cheba Hut next to ASU in 1998, but the chain now is based in Fort Collins, Colo., and has grown to more than 75 restaurants nationwide.

In celebration of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Cheba Hut is offering a special Trash Can Hash Can cocktail (pictured below), served in a playful mini trash can, through Sunday at all Arizona locations.
