Edo Japanese Grill makes Arizona debut in Chandler

🥢 Edo Japanese Grill, a Canadian chain of Japanese fast-casual restaurants, has made its Arizona debut in Chandler.

It’s opened in the former Pasta 78 space on the northeast corner of the Loop 101 and Chandler Boulevard.

Edo’s core menu items are made to order using a signature teriyaki sauce and cooked on a 450-degree teppan grill.

Highlights include teriyaki chicken bowls ($10.95-$13.95), poke bowls ($11.95), sushi rolls ($4.20-$8.95), and build-your-own bento boxes.

Edo takes its name from the original name of Tokyo. The chain is based in Calgary, Alberta, where the first restaurant was founded by a Japanese Buddhist minister in 1979.

Edo expanded across Canada and made inroads into the United States in the 1980s and ’90s, exclusively in shopping mall food courts, before deciding in 2006 to close all non-Canada locations.

Hours are 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.
