🇪🇹 Authentic EthioAfrican, a well-regarded Ethiopian restaurant and bar that’s been serving Phoenix diners since 2013, has opened a second location on the southeast corner of Hayden and Indian Bend in central Scottsdale.
The menu offers individual and communal meals, typically consisting of spicy stews called wots (or wats) served on top of injera, a spongy and sour flatbread. Diners tear off pieces of injera (use the bread served on the side) to scoop up the wat.
Popular meat dishes include sega wot alecha (beef cubes with potatoes) and doro wot key (chicken legs with hard-boiled egg), while vegetarian options include meser wot (red lentils) and shiro wot (chickpeas). Almost are flavored with onions, garlic, ginger, and other spices.
Individual meals run $16-$17 for meats and $9-$11 for vegetarian. Sampler combos for two (choice of four dishes) are $19 for meat, $16 for vegetarian, and $19 for mixed.
Hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday-Monday.
