🌮 Casa de Julia, a polished Mexican restaurant and bar named in honor of the owner’s grandmother, has opened in downtown Phoenix.
It takes over the space formerly home to French bakery and cafe La Madeleine at the Luhrs Tower on the southeast corner of Jefferson Street and First Avenue.
Menu highlights include Pescado Zarandeado (fish cooked Nayarit-style in the charcoal oven, $27), Tacos Xicali (diced carne asada with beans, roasted jalapeño, and stewed onions, $21), and a Smash Burger Mexicana ($23).
Open 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10:30 a.m.-midnight Friday-Saturday.
