Green Chile Love goes bricks & mortar in Ahwatukee

🌶️ Valley food truck Green Chile Love, a family-run concept featuring dishes made with Hatch chiles, has opened a restaurant in the Safeway shopping center on the southeast corner of 40th Street and Chandler in Ahwatukee.

The space previously was home to Taco H and, before that, El Taco Santo.

Green Chile Love owner and chef Dave Castaneda moved from Colorado to Arizona in 1989. When he couldn’t find green chile dishes like those he enjoyed in Colorado, he decided to start making his own. He launched the food truck in 2018.

Unlike the better-known New Mexico green chile sauce, the Colorado version is less smoky and less spicy. Green Chile Love embraces both styles, and also uses red chiles.

Green Chile Love’s top seller is its Mexican burger topped with green chile pork and pinto beans and wrapped in a flour tortilla. The menu also offers breakfast bowls, burgers, burritos, quesadillas, and nachos.

Open 7 a.m.-2 p.m.
