Brekky/Brunch, a two-year-old breakfast and lunch eatery, has closed on the southwest corner of Alma School and Germann in south Chandler.
No explanation was given for the closure, but soaring egg prices – up 58% in the past year due to the bird flu – have hit breakfast restaurants especially hard.
Other breakfast staples also have outpaced inflation.
While overall grocery inflation has risen 1.9% in the past year, bacon has risen 2.7%, coffee 6%, and orange juice nearly 7%.
