Word of Mouth Grill, a family-run barbecue restaurant in south Tempe, opens its second location today on the northeast corner of 48th Street and Ray in Ahwatukee.
Owner Demetrious Makel launched Word of Mouth in 2011 as a catering service, and he opened his first restaurant on the southwest corner of McClintock and Elliot in 2019.
The menu offers brisket, pulled pork, hot links, pulled chicken, St. Louis-style ribs and more. Sauces range from fiery habanero to Carolina mustard to Alabama white.
Meats are $6-$17 per half-pound, sandwiches $10-$14 (including one side), and sides $3-$5.
Open noon-8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
