The Mexicano, the Maggiore Group concept that debuted in Paradise Valley in 2021, launches its second location at 4 p.m. today at Chandler Fashion Center.
It takes over the former Majerle’s Sports Grill building (most recently the short-lived Howler’s Restaurant & Sports Bar) in front of the mall.
The Mexicano’s menu combines the traditions of Mexico with fusion cuisine resulting in such dishes as birria bao buns ($19), bone-in pork osso buco served in a sizzling hot molcajete ($44), and ‘‘The Best F#*%ing Fried Beef Quesadilla Taco Ever’’ (three with rice and beans for $23).
A guacamole and salsa Ferris wheel ($20, shown above) provides a sampling of the three house guacamoles and three house salsas with tortilla chips. There’s also a build-your-own margarita bar (pictured below).
Like the Paradise Valley location, the Chandler one offers a daily happy hour (2-5:30 p.m. daily), Taco Tuesdays ($2 cochinita pibil and chicken tinga tacos), and Margarita Mondays (half off all margaritas).
Inspired by Mexico City, the decor features vibrant colors, authentic imported furniture, indoor and outdoor seating, and a custom DJ booth. Rotating DJs will spin Latin music seven days a week
Open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
Other Maggiore concepts include Hash Kitchen, The Sicilian Butcher, The Sicilian Baker, and The Italiano.
