A tribute to Lee Cohn and Big 4 Restaurants, the legendary hospitality group he founded, will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday at Jalapeño Inferno Takeout Kitchen & Cantina in north Scottsdale.
Recent Valley residents likely won’t recognize Cohn’s name, but if there was a Mount Rushmore of Valley restaurateurs he’d certainly be on it.
Back in the 1980s, Cohn launched more than two dozen popular concepts – including Ed Debevic’s, Lunt Avenue Marble Club, Oscar Taylor’s, Steamers, and The American Grill – that were on the cutting edge of the Valley dining scene.
(What made Cohn so successful? Check out this list of rules all Big 4 employees were required to carry and adhere to.)
Jalapeño Inferno owners Terry and Laura Craig are both Big 4 alumni and are inviting all former Big 4 employees and associates to attend Sunday’s casual reception.
Cohn, who still has a home in the Valley, is planning to attend if his health allows, Terry Craig says.
Jalapeño Inferno is located on the southeast corner of Miller and Pinnacle Peak.
