The Food Nanny makes Arizona debut in downtown Gilbert

🍞 The Food Nanny, a Utah-based store that sells kitchenwares and specialty wheat flour, has made its Arizona debut in downtown Gilbert.

It takes over the recently closed Batch Cookies space near the southeast corner of Gilbert and Page.

The Food Nanny is known for its Kamut flour-based breads and pizzas. It also offers other fresh-baked treats like Kamut cakes and cookies, as well as a variety of food products like salts, jams, and honey.

(Kamut is a yellow flour that originated in Egypt. It has a buttery taste and high nutritional values.)

On the retail side, the store stocks kitchen utensils, pottery and stoneware, glasses, towels, aprons, cookbooks, and more.

Liz Edmunds launched The Food Nanny about 25 years ago to emphasize the importance of family meals, healthy eating, and community with cookbooks, recipes, and food products.

Today, her daughter, Lizi Heaps (left), runs the company, which also operates two retail stores in Utah, publishes a blog, and has a large social media following.

Open 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
