CRUjiente Tacos in Arcadia gets temporary reprieve through May

🌮 CRUjiente Tacos, the award-winning Arcadia taqueria set to close this weekend, has been given a reprieve, although it may only be temporary one.

Earlier this month, chef and co-owner Richard Hinojosa announced the eight-year-old restaurant would close April 26 after failing to reach a new lease agreement with its landlord.

The Latin-inspired eatery and cantina on the southwest corner of Camelback and 40th Street has since experienced an outpouring of public support and seen daily lines out the door.

Now, the property management company has granted a 30-day extension of the lease, allowing CRUjiente to remain open through May.

Hinojosa say he still hopes a new lease agreement can be reached.

CRUjiente was named grand champion of the Arizona Taco Festival in 2017 and 2018. It was featured on the Food Network’s ‘‘Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” last April.
