🍛 Mostly mired in mediocrity for decades, Indian food options in the Valley are noticeably on the upswing.
In just the past year, we’ve seen noteworthy newcomers ranging from fine dining (Indibar and Peacock in Scottsdale) to pizzerias (Curry N Crust in Tempe) to snack shops (Bikanervala in Chandler).
The latest addition is Masala Maniac Indian Grub, which just opened near the southwest corner of Mill and Fourth Street in downtown Tempe.
Sort of a fast-casual Indian bar and grill, Masala Maniac offers curry dishes ($13-$16), kabob and gyro plates ($14-$18), pitas ($13-$15 with fries), naan ($2-$4), and desserts ($3.50-$6).
There’s even some ‘‘secret’’ menu items like masala wings ($14) and a Maniac quesadilla ($11).
And, of course, Indian beer is available.
Open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.
