Hokkaido Sushi & Asian Bistro in Scottsdale offers diversity

🍣 Scottsdale’s vibrant dining scene has welcomed a fresh face: Hokkaido Sushi & Asian Bistro. The new restaurant on the southeast corner of McDowell and 77th Street offers a variety of Asian dishes.

Among the Japanese options, there’s an array of nigiri, sashimi, and classic and special rolls. They also offer ramen, gyoza, tempura, and yaki udon.

Chinese dishes, mostly Americanized, range from orange beef to General Tso’s chicken to walnut shrimp.

Rounding out the regional tour are four types of pad Thai and five varieties of Malaysian rice noodles. There’s also Hawaiian-style poke bowls.

Open for lunch and dinner daily.

Philly Steak & Burger Co. in Phoenix

🥖 Philly Steak & Burger Co., which opened in west Phoenix in 2024, has launched a second location in the former Johnny Rockets space at Deer Valley Towne Center on the southwest corner of I-17 and the 101 in north Phoenix. The menu offers 10 variations of Philly steak sandwiches and five gourmet burgers. Open for lunch and dinner daily.

Arusuvai Kitchen in Mesa

🇮🇳 Indian restaurant Arusuvai Kitchen has opened in the former Lucky Wok space on the northeast corner of Dobson and Baseline in southwest Mesa. The limited soft-opening menu includes a couple chef specialties: mutton sukka (a spicy dry curry)  and parota with salna (flaky flatbread with a spicy masala curry). Open for lunch and dinner daily except Tuesdays.

Valley has 2 finalists for top bar awards

🍸 The Tales of the Cocktail Foundation has announced the final four finalists in categories for its 18th annual Spirited Awards, the Oscars of the bar industry.

Libby Lingua (pictured) of Highball in Phoenix is a finalist for U.S. Bartender of the Year, and Little Rituals at the Residence Inn/Courtyard by Marriott in Phoenix is a finalist for Best U.S. Hotel Bar.

Winners will be announced July 24.
