🔥 Less than five years after The Hub Grill & Bar in east Mesa suffered a devastating fire, another Hub location in Mesa has been closed indefinitely by a fire.
This time it’s The Hub near the northwest corner of Stapley and Baseline, where a first-alarm fire broke out just after 7 p.m. Friday. Both the Mesa and Gilbert fire departments responded to deal with heavy smoke and visible flames coming from the roof.
Fortunately, all customers and staff were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
‘‘We had a fire last night at our Stapley location,’’ the restaurant posted on social media Saturday. ‘‘Everyone is OK, but we will need some time to fix the damages.’’
What at the time was called ‘‘a small fire’’ on New Year’s Eve in 2020 closed The Hub on the northeast corner of Sossaman and Baseline for 30 months.
Insurance issues, as well as construction delays and equipment shortages due in part to the covid pandemic, were blamed for the long closure.
While repairs to the Stapley location are being done, the restaurant invites diners to visit The Hub in east Mesa, another at I-10 and Ray in Ahwatukee, or a fourth at Power and McDowell in northeast Mesa.
