Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant closes Chandler location

🚫 Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant, a Texas-based chain of sit-down restaurants, has abruptly closed its Chandler location after two decades.

Employees weren’t informed the restaurant had shut down until they showed up for work Sunday.

Abuelo’s has closed several restaurants over the past year in Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. The chain, which once had more than 40 locations nationwide, now lists only 17 on its website.

Besides the restaurant on the northwest corner of the 101 and Chandler, Abuelo’s also has an Arizona location in Peoria.

The company, which was founded in 1989, has given no explanation for the closures.
