👨🍳 Belmont Kitchen & Cocktails, which opened in February in north Scottsdale, has hired celebrated chef Alex Stratta to head its kitchen.
Belmont, located on the northwest corner of Pima and Pinnacle Peak, is the first restaurant from new hospitality group Rosewood Concepts.
Diners can expect Stratta to create ‘‘a curated selection of globally inspired dishes, high-impact wine dinners, seasonal tasting menus, and a continued dedication to quality without pretension,’’ according to the group.
Stratta won the James Beard Award for Best Chef Southwest in 1998 when he was executive chef at The Phoenician’s now-defunct Mary Elaine’s.
He left the Valley for Las Vegas, where he launched Renoir at The Mirage and earned a Mobil 5-star rating, and was cast as Iron Chef Italian on the short-lived television series ‘‘Iron Chef USA.’’
In 2005, Stratta debuted his eponymous restaurant, Alex, at the Wynn Las Vegas, earning a prestigious two-star rating from Michelin.
He returned to the Valley in 2020 to open Stratta Kitchen, a Mediterranean seafood restaurant in Scottsdale that he later retooled into Campo Italian Bistro & Bar.
