October recap: 9 Valley restaurants & bars that are now closed

Angels Trumpet Ale House: One of Phoenix’s pioneering craft beer spots, known for an extensive but well-curated tap list and elevated food, closed after 13 years.

Duck Donuts: The Pennsylvania-based chain  specializing in made-to-order doughnuts closed its original – and only remaining – Arizona location in south Chandler.

Ghett Yo Tacos & Wings: The eatery, known for its colorful Day of the Dead mural on the building and street-style tacos, closed after eight years in downtown Chandler.

JoJo’s Shake Bar: The Chicago-based chain of classic diners, which made its Valley debut at the Scottsdale Quarter in 2023, closed its only Arizona location.

La Santisima: The acclaimed Phoenix taco shop, which has been featured on the Food Network’s ‘‘Diners, Drive-Ins, and Drives,’’ closed after a devastating fire, but the owners intend to reopen.

Pocha 54: The Korean-style pub that offers soju and sake along with small plates of shareable food known as anju, closed  after two years at High Street in northeast Phoenix.

Revolu Modern Taqueria & Bar: The well-reviewed Mexican eatery just south of Peoria Sports Complex closed after eight years in business. It featured 15 kinds of tacos, guacamole flights, and creative appetizers like Mexi-meatballs.

Wayback Burgers: The Connecticut-based chain that made its Arizona debut at Gilbert Town Square has closed after 21 months. It served made-to-order burgers and hand-dipped shakes.

Word of Mouth Grill: The well-regarded barbecue joint in south Tempe closed the Ahwatukee location it has opened just six months earlier. Its menu offered brisket, pulled pork, hot links, pulled chicken, St. Louis-style ribs, and more.
