Dutchman County BBQ fires up its smokers in Apache Junction

🍖 Apache Junction just picked up a meaty new reason to point your boots toward the Superstitions.

Dutchman’s County BBQ has officially opened its doors, bringing slow-smoked comfort, hometown hospitality, and a little outlaw personality to the southeast corner of the Apache Trail and Tomahawk Road in the East Valley foothills.

The space feels right for the setting: casual and unfussy with wood-trim warmth, picnic-table seating, and mountain views peeking over the rooftops.

The menu from former ‘‘MasterChef’’ champion Shaun O’Neale leans Texas-style, anchored by brisket that’s smoked low and slow. There’s also pepper-crusted turkey, pulled pork that’s juicy instead of soggy, racks of St. Louis ribs with a tug-to-the-bone finish, and house-made sausage links that snap when you bite.

Sides keep things classic but creative – green apple and poblano slaw, cornbread poppers, and smashed potato salad – but portions lean generous because nobody drives all the way to AJ for dainty plates.

A selection of local beers and cold soft drinks round things out, with brown-paper trays and butcher-paper trays setting the mood.
